NDIS has found a home in Geelong

Today it was announced that Geelong will be the new home for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, creating over 300 jobs for the city. The announcement comes less than two weeks since Ford confirmed the closure of its Geelong plants, acting as a major boost for the city. Reporter Sarah Maunder spoke to Councillor Kylie Fisher of Geelong and NDIS champion campaigner Lynn Foreman to discuss what this means for the future of Geelong, and further opportunities it will create for its citizens.

Reporting racism

Earlier today a study was released by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission called Reporting Racism, what you say matters. It aims to increase awareness about reporting racism, because 55% of Victorians don’t when they experience or observe it.  Reporter Ally McManus spoke to Karen Toohey, Acting Commissioner to find out more about the study, and why people don’t report racism when they experience or are exposed to it.

Climate change survival strategy

Faced with the possibility of rising sea levels the town of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales has started planning for their future. Reporter Hollie Thwaites spoke with Jodie Harrison, Mayor of Lake Macquarie, about some of the options her council is considering. Kevin Hennessy, a CSIRO researcher, discussed the implications for the wider Australian community.

Facebook claim they do, but clearly some pages are slipping through the cracks.
