The war in Afghanistan is closing in on a decade, but this week marks the first parliamentary debate on Australia's commitment of troops.

Greens member for Melbourne Adam Bandt ignited the debate. John Langmore is former UN and political expert. They join Panorama's Hayley Crane and Nick Toscano.

Bandt on the Greenslide!

The result of the election for the two major parties still hangs in the balance. What's clearer, though, is a huge swing to the Greens - the Greenslide!

New Greens' MP for Melbourne, Adam Bandt, was quick to throw his support behind the Labor Party to help them keep government. But what changes are we going to see on the big issues like asylum seekers, climate change and gay marraige?

Melbourne - it's Greens versus Labor

The electorate of Melbourne may be, on the pendulum a very safe Labor seat, but it's not your traditional Labor vs Liberal bash up. This time, the Greens have a real chance of getting their first seat in the Federal House of Representatives.
 
So, what's changed to make Melbourne more green? And what are the issues that effect the electorate the most.
