Making disabilities count

The census parties are over and the forms are complete. Australians have made official declarations about their age, gender, religion and level of education, among other things. But many Australians living with a disability didn’t get to declare it.
 
Panorama’s Elizabeth Redman spoke to Stella Young, editor of the ABC’s Ramp Up website, about her view on the census and her identity as a disabled person.

Counting the young homeless

On the 9th of August this year everyone in Australia will complete a form, to be counted as part of the Census which happens once every 5 years. But there is one group of Australians which are harder to reach, the homeless. Despite the best efforts of census collectors, there are still thousands of homeless people who are left uncounted.
