The Balinese Princess and the Funky Monkey

Florence talked to Indonesian writer Lela McGregor about her latest musical for children called "The Balinese Princess and the Funky Monkey".  This musical deals with the themes of grief and the celebration of life and death in Indonesian culture.

Maternity leave: how much for how long?

The Rudd Government's recently passed paid maternity leave scheme will provide working parents with minimum wage entitlements for the first eighteen weeks after the birth of their child. In a surprising move, the Opposition is calling for more funding and wants big business to foot the bill.

Wanted: Parents

When Michael was 17, after living in a string of different homes and facing mental health issues, he met foster carer Greg, who's now both his father figure and best friend. "If I didn't have him, I'd be out on the streets or even dead," he says.

There are over 6000 kids in need of foster care in Victoria alone - often coming from broken homes with histories of domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse.
