Experience or Exploitation?

Fair Work Australia has commissioned a review into the state of internships and unpaid work placements in Australia. Students are increasingly being asked to work long hours, for weeks or months at a time without pay, in the hope that the cash will flow eventually. Sally Whyte spoke to a student about her experiences and Professor Andrew Stewart about the review and what it means for students.

Flying kangaroo forced to take off, again

Qantas Airways has been scrambling to get its planes in the air again after grounding its entire fleet over the weekend in a bold tactic to force the government to intervene in the nation's worst labor dispute in a decade.

About 70,000 passengers were disrupted by the stoppage and Qantas says its lost about $70 million from the industrial action since September.
