The La Mirada Film Festival for Spanish film was created by Rocio Garcia, who has managed to get some of the world’s most iconic and talented filmmakers to be curators and visiting guests in the festival each year. For example, Pedro Almodovar is La Mirada’s patron.

Florence talked to two Melbourne film directors, Kate Lefoe and Hope Collins, about queer film, coming out and their short films showing in the Oz Shorts film category at this year's Melbourne Queer Film Festival.  Kate Lefoe's film is called Under Pressure and is about two girls in high school. In contrast, Hope Collins' film is a poetic monologue called Sheer and it focuses on an elderly woman as she reflects on how the passing of time has affected her
