Episode 6

Yes it's that time of the week where we all sit down and have two tabs open on the internet for a change, as we supply you with background audio for your 'legal' internet surfing.

On this show, we overcooked one of our spuds, so with one spud down, we carried on strong to deliver the news. The truckie protest in Canberra feautures prominently, and we offer our support for an early election, because the truckies say so. The Dolph makes his long awaited return, Kevin Rudd is strong and fighting fit and Dee 'Billy Bo' Nelson wraps up the show.

The ads are coming!

The Federal election hasn't been called yet, but political advertising is already hitting TV screens across Australia.

As Opposition Leader in '07, Rudd called political advertising a "cancer on democracy", but now he's trying to justify a $38 million campaign to promote the super profits tax on mining. Should governments be allowed to use taxpayer dollars to save their own skin?

Panorama's Nick Toscano, Ally Bergamin and Emma Buckley Lennox.

Budget tough on students

It's May budget madness. Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan handed down the government's third budget last night, and on Panorama, we've got the lowdown.

It's been hailed as a budget with no frills, no spills....but what's in it for the kids?

What do the billions mean for you?

Panorama's Jane Ryan got the goss at the Canberra press gallery.

Hospitals reform?

Been hearing a lot about hospitals reform?

The government is set to revamp the way Australian hospitals are run and funded, but what's wrong with the hospital system at the moment, and what do the changes actually involve?

Nick Toscano reports.

The Rudd factor

Lots of young Australians saw Kevin '07 as a new beginning after 11 years of knowing only the one conservative government. Rudd's been PM for over two years now, so how's he doing so far? And how big is the difference between him and Howard?

Panorama's Nick Toscano and Meaghan Dew look at the man, the myth and the media spin of Kevin Rudd.
