From suspended to mandatory, a change in sentencing

On Panorama we had a look at justice and sentencing. As part of their 2010 election campaign, the Baillieu government promised to remove suspended sentences and replace them with mandatory sentences. The change has provoked a mixed reaction from judges and community advocates.

10-year-old sex offender

A rare trial in the UK found two young boys aged 10 and 11 guilty of attempted rape. The victim was only eight years old.

The boys are now the youngest in the world to appear on the sex offenders register.
