A school in Mississippi cancelled its prom this year rather than let a girl bring another girl along, and in a 2009 formal at a Brisbane boys' school, admin said no male partners allowed.

Melbourne queer youth organisation Minus18 hosted Australia's first same-sex formal in Collingwood on April 17.
