Game/Play at NGV Studio

NGV Studio are having an interactive exhibition called Game/Play that invites visitors to experience the latest independently produced games, view game-related art installations, as well as learn to design and play games.
 
Florence talked to Paul Callaghan, the curator of Game/Play, about the different kinds of  board and electronic games on display at NGV Studio and the trends and developments that are happening in the world of independent gaming.

European Art: Review of Vienna Exhibition at the NGV

Conversation with NGV Curators: Amanda Dunsmore and Sophie Matthiesson

Inherent Vice: Cartoonists at NGV Studio

Florence had an interesting discussion with cartoonist Pat Grant about Inherent Vice, an artist-in-residence project involving eight cartoonists at NGV Studio from 16 July- 14 August.
 
Pat also talked about his comic books, cartooning style and his influences, which range from TV shows to books at the State Library and old photographs.

The Future of Contemporary Art in the Public Arena

Rebecca Brody reflected on the issues discussed in a Melbourne Conversations forum on Contemporary Art in public galleries and arts institutions.  Melbourne Conversations is a special collaboration between the City of Melbourne and the National Gallery of Victoria, as part of the celebrations for the NGV's 150th anniversary.

Top Arts Exhibition at the NGV

Florence and NGV representative Alex chatted to two talented artists, Elizabeth Miller and Bill Noonan, whose VCE artworks are in the Top Arts exhibition on now, until 19 June at NGV Australia.  Elizabeth and Bill talked about their experience doing VCE visual arts subjects and shared a few tips and pieces of advice for upcoming VCE students.

ManStyle at the NGV

From the 18th Century to the present day, there has been a myriad of fascinating breakthroughs in men's fashion, from sportswear to slim-fitting suits and dandy street wear.  However, men's fashion has only really come to the forefront of our attentions in recent times.  In fact, the ManStyle exhibition at the NGV is the first ever exhibition in Australia that focuses purely on men's fashion.  There are over 80 pieces of clothing, accessories, paintings and multimedia showing at both NGV Australia

Adnate from the AWOL Crew at NGV Studio

Florence talked to a Melbourne street artist known as Adnate from the AWOL Crew. Adnate talked about challenging the boundaries of graffiti art and the close-knit, yet competitive, culture of the street art scene. AWOL has a mural installation up at NGV Studio until March 25.
