ACCA brings Power to the People

The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) has put on an exhibition for the Melbourne Festival called Power to the People: Contemporary Conceptualism and the Object in Art.  This exhibition showcases artworks, talks and performances by artists from all over the world.

Game/Play at NGV Studio

NGV Studio are having an interactive exhibition called Game/Play that invites visitors to experience the latest independently produced games, view game-related art installations, as well as learn to design and play games.
 
Florence talked to Paul Callaghan, the curator of Game/Play, about the different kinds of  board and electronic games on display at NGV Studio and the trends and developments that are happening in the world of independent gaming.

European Art: Review of the 2011 Venice Biennale

Rebecca gave us her review of the 2011 Venice Biennale, showing until 24 November in Venice, Italy.
 
The Venice Biennale features works by artists from all over the world. The artist representing Australia in this Biennale is Sydney-based sculptor Hany Armanious.

Conversation with NGV Curators: Amanda Dunsmore and Sophie Matthiesson

Florence talked to two curators from the NGV, Amanda Dunsmore and Sophie Matthiesson, about the process of putting together Vienna: Art and Design, the gallery's latest major exhibition that is part of its Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series.

Inherent Vice: Cartoonists at NGV Studio

Florence had an interesting discussion with cartoonist Pat Grant about Inherent Vice, an artist-in-residence project involving eight cartoonists at NGV Studio from 16 July- 14 August.
 
Pat also talked about his comic books, cartooning style and his influences, which range from TV shows to books at the State Library and old photographs.

Small Odysseys by Rawcus at Arts House

Renae talked to Kate Sulan, the artistic director of the performance company Rawcus. Rawcus is based in Melbourne and devises works that draw on dance, theatre and visual art disciplines.Their latest production is called Small Odysseys and it is a stunning work that incorporates elements of dance, theatre, visual imagery and magic realism and involves performers with disabilities.
