After the war...the legacy of landmines

Just weeks ago, Van Tha was injured by a Cluster bomb explosion while working on a Cassava plantation in Eastern Cambodia.
 
While the fighting may be over in places such as Cambodia, Bosnia and Southern Lebanon landmines and cluster bombs have created a legacy that makes peace, as dangerous as war itself.

Bandt on the Afghan war

The war in Afghanistan is closing in on a decade, but this week marks the first parliamentary debate on Australia's commitment of troops.

Greens member for Melbourne Adam Bandt ignited the debate. John Langmore is former UN and political expert. They join Panorama's Hayley Crane and Nick Toscano.

Afghanistan: the never-ending war

Three Aussie soldiers were killed and seven injured when their chopper crashed in northern Kandahar, Afghanistan, early yesterday morning, bringing the death toll of Australian soldiers in the region to 16.

What are we doing in Afghanistan, and why hasn't the Australian government committed to bringing our soldiers back home?

Israeli boat raid

Australia has joined the UN and an international chorus of condemnation against Israel, after yesterday's deadly sea battle between commandos and blockade runners carrying aid to Gaza, leaving 10 dead in international waters.

Children of War

Currently there are more than 30 000 children fighting wars across the globe. Some of them are as young as seven years old. The laws of war aim to protect children and other civilians from getting caught up in conflict, but it's still an issue in many parts of the world.

Rebecca Dodd, national manager of humanitarian law at the Australian Red Cross speaks to Naomi Black.
