Liv with Jennifer Barry from the Footscray Community Arts Centre

Jennifer and I spoke about the background of the centre, why it is an important hub for the arts in the west of Melbourne and the ways in which its eclectic mix of artistic output reflects the Footscray community.

I was struck by the centre's beautiful surrounds with green lawns and the amphitheatre cascading down to the Maribyrnong lined with palms. The shipping containers in the yards across the river actually provide a weirdly beautiful backdrop of primary colours. It's like a little sanctuary of the arts and their summer Sunday Arvo music program was perfect against the Maribyrnong Riviera (as they call it over there!)
