Earthquake in Chile

On Saturday at 3.30am Chilean time, a devestating 8.8-magnitude earthquake - one of the most powerful earthquakes in history - struck about 80 kilometers south of Concepción.

The death toll in the city situated 500km south of Santiago continues to soar. Reporter Simon Marrow was in that area in July last year building houses.

He speaks with local Pancho Francisco Elicer Coopman, who was out partying when the lights went out and everything started to shake.

Tuesday 9th March The temporary houses that Simon built in Southern Chili have been confirmed as actually very stable during earthquakes, Sebastian Dawes commented from Chile that "they bend and shake but don't break. Adobe (mud brick) houses are the destroyed ones"

Looking at the pictures after

Looking at the pictures after the earthquake makes me really cry. I don't know how people their will start their life again. This Chile quake is one of the very alarming tragedy that happen. I will pray very hard that people there will be okay and may God guide and give them the courage to start life again. I know it's difficult but we should be strong enough.
