Young disabled people in nursing homes

More than 6,000 disabled people under the age of 65 live in nursing homes across Australia, with 1500 of those young people in Victoria.

Last week a report released by the Office of the Public Advocate identified 8 potentially preventable deaths of young disabled people in Victorian nursing homes in the last five years.

Panorama spoke with Vicki, a 47-year-old woman living in an aged care facility - about her experience as a disabled young person living among the elderly - as well as Young People in Nursing Homes National Alliance director, Dr Bronwyn Morkham and Public Advocate Colleen Pearc.

Reporters Hayley Crane, Joseph Dunstan and Nat Tencic with the story.
