Crime victims review

A quarter of Victorian crime victims would not report a crime to police again.

That’s according to a report from the state’s Victims of Crime Commissioner.

It says 40 per cent of victims made to give evidence in court wouldn’t do it again, and 74 per cent “never” or “rarely” felt part of the justice process.

The commissioner has made 55 recommendations to the state government.

Penny Wong wedding

Federal foreign minister Penny Wong has married her partner in Adelaide.

Ms Wong met Sophie Allouache in 2007 and has two daughters with her.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and more of Ms Wong’s federal government colleagues were guests at the wedding.

Ms Wong was Australia’s first openly queer federal senator.

Olympic stadium stoush

A review of infrastructure for Australia’s 2032 Olympics in Brisbane is recommending the city scrap its rebuild of the Gabba stadium.

The works would have cost $2.7 billion.

Instead, the report recommends building a new stadium that would cost $700 million more.

Queensland’s premier ordered the review in December to find a “value for money outcome”.

WNBL: Melbourne d. Perth

And in women’s basketball: Melbourne’s Southside Flyers have won the 2023 national title.

They beat the Perth Lynx 115 points to 81.

The Lynx’ Amy Atwell was the highest scorer, but her 22-point haul wasn’t enough to salvage Perth’s hopes.

It was a comeback for the Flyers after the Lynx beat them in game one of the title series.

Tomorrow's weather

A blustery day for Melbourne, reaching 30°C.

30°C and a chance of showers for Geelong as well.
