The last time Cuban-American Pop Star Camila Cabello performed in Australia was way back in 2016 as a part of the former girl group, Fifth Harmony–and that wasn’t even part of the group’s 7/27 Tour!
Since then, Cabello has gone solo and released four studio albums, and with the Yours, C Tour, she officially graced Australian shores for the first time as part of her own solo tour.
In 2024, Camila Cabello released the C, XOXO album – a massive rebrand from the singer, marked by her then newly bleached hairdo and hyper-pop snippets from lead producer El Guincho (notable for collaborations with Rosalía, and FKA Twigs) and Jasper Harris (notable for collaborations with Jack Harlow, Charli xcx and Doja cat).
The C, XOXO album leads listeners through Cabello’s upbringing in Miami, Florida, with lyrics such as “Head out the sunroof / girls are screaming” and “Party in the city that raised us,” painting a portrait of Miami’s vibrant sunshine, beaches, and nightlife.
The album’s lead single, ‘I LUV IT’ featuring Playboy Carti, sonically shifted from Cabello’s established array of pop hits such as ‘Señorita’, ‘Havana’, and ‘My Oh My’.
Cabello opened her Australian leg in Naarm/Melbourne at the Margaret Court Arena on the 27th of August with the Sydney pop-based Cat & Calmell as opening performers.

Cat & Calmell were fabulous opening choices for Camila, with their fun and energetic alt-pop sounds that mirrored Camila’s transition into the experimental with her C, XOXO album.
The duo performed a number of unreleased songs from an upcoming project, but what really stood out was their latest single, ‘Cool Star’.
The song’s lyricism fully embodies the persona of the hedonistic party girl, set against infectious hyperpop beats.
Cat & Calmell set the tone fabulously for Camila and really riled up the audience’s energy, especially with their rendition of the de facto 2010s EDM anthem, ‘Clarity’ by Zedd.
With their comedic segues during their engagement with the crowd, Cat & Calmell gave a slice of themselves as artists to the audience and left much intrigue about what’s next with their upcoming music.
The Yours, C Tour setlist was an amalgamation of music spanning from Cabello’s discography as a solo artist. With music from her latest album C, XOXO (2024), among call-backs to Romance (2019), Familia (2022), and her self-titled debut, Camila (2018).
Beginning the night with her song ‘Shameless’ was everything as the singer stood atop a white padded cube set piece singing “Don’t speak, no, don’t try”. It was absolutely chilling following the fierce opening dance during the intro of the song’s melodies, accompanied by dramatic lights, smoke, and the reverberating bass that could be felt.
Among the songs performed, a particular favourite of mine was ‘baby pink’ featuring Eem Triplin, with such an emphasis on Cabello’s lush and bubbly vocals juxtaposed against the interesting trains of production that invite you to listen closely at the musical elements and sounds.
The high energy choreography that Cabello and her backup dancers performed was intricate and heightened the elements of the stage production as they made sure to utilise the space of the stage to its full potential.
It looked and felt like a nightclub, the audience could have honestly danced all night long.
Although the right side facing the stage had the least favourable view of the night, the set was still immersive, and the performances exceeded regardless.
But even with the moments of upbeat, Cabello made space for more mellow and sentimental tracks such as ‘B.O.A.T’, ‘Easy’, ‘Bad Things’, and ‘June Gloom’.
Hearing Cabello’s collaboration with mgk, ‘Bad Things’ live was mesmerising, and with the crowd turning on the flashes to their phones, it was one of the main defining moments of the concert. It had felt like being transported back into 2017, which truly encompassed what the Yours, C Tour reflected.
A special highlight and an audience pleaser at this particular leg of the tour was a soulful piano-ballad rendition of ‘Torn’ by Australia’s own Natalie Imbruglia. It was truly exhilarating to be in the moment with everyone in the arena as the crowd sang passionately the lyrics of the 1997 hit song, made even more special by the special dedication of the cover for this leg.
Cabello made her enthusiasm about being in Australia apparent with references to the “Tim Tam Slam” as she spoke to the audience about her fascination with the biscuit.
A large part of this show was Cabello’s interaction with the fans, from recognising long-time fans and social media followers of hers in the front row of the crowd to the special ‘Dream Girl’ segment where she invites someone from the audience appear on stage with her as she serenades them with the song “DREAMGIRLS’, there’s passion and effort on Cabello’s part invested into strengthening her relationship with listeners and that was heart-warming to witness, especially since she hasn’t been in Australia for so long.
Closing the night with a three-track run of her most arguable upbeat and high-energy songs, ‘Havana’, ‘Don’t Go Yet’, and ‘I LUV IT’, Cabello ended the night strong as she left a lasting impression with fans continuing to sing her songs well after the concert was finished.
Havana especially transported the crowd back to the late 2010s when the song held pop-culture in clutch.
The Yours, C Tour felt like a party that nobody wanted to end, a party that travels through music that relishes in the peaks of the high tempo ‘DADE ORANGE COUNTY’ as well as explores the rawness and depth in the relatively sombre ‘June Gloom’.
