OUR TRAINERS

 

 

SYN's Educational Trainers and Producers lead our media programs, including our radio and podcasting workshops, tailored projects, and Schools on Air live programs. All of our trainers are young media professionals with experience in workshop facilitation, media production and broadcasting.

Imogen Bower (she/her)

Imogen is currently completing her Masters of Teaching and looks forward to sharing her love of literature and languages after graduating next year. She previously hosted SYN’s local music show The Hoist, as well as a seasonal called, Wicked Messenger, where each week she and her co-host delved into their favourite decades and scenes in recent music history.

Thiruavani (Avani) Arunachalam-Elanthendral (she/her)

Avani is a producer, volunteer and Educational Trainer and Producer at SYN who enjoys teaching her students the in's and out's of radio. She is currently studying Architecture and has a strong passion for media; she strives to remain active in both industries for the future.

Zack Goutzoulas (he/him)

Zack is a media and communications graduate with several years of experience in community media. He is currently the executive producer of Art Smitten on SYN and is undertaking a Master of Journalism at Melbourne University.

Blair Morilly (she/her)

After graduating with a creative writing and commerce degree, Blair has stepped into the workforce with a passion for creative projects. She is dedicated to the radio and podcasting industry after undertaking an exciting internship at Triple R Broadcasting Ltd.

Nick Sarlos-Welsh (he/him)

Nick Sarlos-Welsh is a SYN broadcaster, audio producer, and trainer. Since starting volunteering at SYN in June 2019, Nick has been an executive producer on SYN’s flagship show, AMPLIFY, and a co-creator and producer of the seasonal production, The Fan and The Fraud. Outside SYN, Nick is also an avid member of the amateur theatre community, partaking in a wide variety of musicals and plays since 2016.

Jemma Perelaer (she/her)

Jemma has completed a Bachelor of Communications (Media) at RMIT, a Diploma of Applied Business (Entertainment Management) at Collarts, hosted and produced music-based radio shows for SYN, and currently volunteers as a music administration assistant at PBS 106.7FM.
