SCHOOLS ON-AIR
Where your class gets a weekly live radio slot for a whole term! Your students provide the ideas, and SYN provides everything else.
Schools On-Air is our live-to-air educational radio training program. Your students produce up to seven radio shows, scheduled for weekly broadcasts on SYN 90.7fm throughout the term. The package includes a 2-hour training workshop, and the support of a SYN producer in the studio during recording sessions.
Groups can book a recurring 1-hour or 30-minute weekly broadcast slot, which airs weekdays between 10am and 3pm, on SYN 90.7fm and online at syn.org.au. We also offer a pre-recorded Schools On-Air program for groups that cannot travel to SYN on a weekly basis due to curriculum or scheduling constraints.
In the 2-hour training workshop, students will:
- Learn about responsible broadcasting, radio show structure, and script writing
- Practice planning and presenting a radio segment in groups
- Record a short demo in our professional studios
- Learn how to prepare and present their weekly shows
- Receive templates and resources to complete their live show preparation after the workshop
School and community groups will plan the content for their live shows after the workshop and bring all completed resources to their broadcast slot.
Duration: 1x 2-hour Induction workshop + 7x recording sessions
Capacity: 25 students*
Live cost (7x 1-hour shows): $2925 + GST
Live cost (7x 30-minute shows): $2225 + GST
Pre-recorded cost (7x 1-hour shows): $3800 + GST
*Workshops with over 25 students require an additional fee of $150 for one extra trainer and 30 minutes of extended workshop time.
