Hands-on radio training for 3,500 Victorian students each year.
Based in RMIT's City Campus, SYN's programs put students in control of a real, state-of-the-art recording studio. Creating a radio project fosters personal confidence, creativity, teamwork, and combines oral and written language skills.
Every class is taught by a young media professional and all workshop proceeds feed back into our organisation's mission to platform young voices and provide fulfilling professional and personal opportunities that they can't get anywhere else.

A hands-on introduction to radio and audio storytelling.
Students learn the fundamentals of responsible broadcasting, radio structure and script writing, then work in groups to plan, present, and record a short demo radio show in SYN's professional studios. By the end of the session, your class will have a recorded show to take back to school.
A practical dive into creating podcasts from concept to recording.
Students learn how to develop ideas and write scripts, then work in small groups to create and record a short podcast segment. By the end of the session, your class will have a podcast episode to take back to school.
Take radio to the next level with a full-day immersive experience.
Students learn the ins and outs of radio production before preparing and presenting a 50-minute live-to-air radio show broadcast on SYN 90.7 FM across Naarm/Melbourne and Djilang/Geelong.
Give your students a weekly voice on Melbourne radio.
Students produce and present their own live radio shows on SYN 90.7 FM over the course of a school term. The program includes a training workshop, ongoing support from a SYN producer, and weekly broadcast slots, allowing students to develop skills over time and build real broadcasting experience.
Custom media programs designed around your group's needs.
Whether you're looking to create a podcast series, support specific access needs, or deliver a focused media project, SYN can design a hands-on program to suit your goals. We work closely with schools, councils, and community organisations to combine learning with real media production outcomes.
